Located on the NorthWestern part of the Sea of Galilee (also called “Lake Galilee” and “the Kinneret”), between Capernaum (Kfar Nahum in Heberew) and Gennesaret (Ginosar) rises the Mount of Beatitudes (Har Nahum in Hebrew), on which Jesus is believed to have delivered his Sermon on the Mount and named his twelve chosen apostles.
Tabgha (al Tabigha in Arabic, Ein Sheva in Hebrew) is generally accepted as the site of Jesus’ miraclous multiplication of the loaves of bread and the fishes, as well as the the place of the fourth sighting of Jesus after his ressurection. Today it is the site of the restored Church of Multiplication and contains beautiful remains of ancient mosaic flooring.
Originally called Kfar Nahum (Meaning Village of Nahum in Hebrew), Capernaum is presumed to be Saint Peter’s home. It is also believed to be the site Jesus chose to be the center of his ministry in the Galilee and where he performed many of his healing miracles.
